A Senior Master Social Worker provides counseling and support to patients and their families to address personal and environmental challenges affecting health. They collaborate with multidisciplinary health and mental health teams to enhance patient care and may perform supervisory duties. This role requires a master's degree in social work, professional licensure, and extensive experience in healthcare settings.
POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Counsels and assists patients and their families with personal and environmental difficulties which predispose illness or hinder the patient from receiving maximum benefits from medical care. Acts as a therapeutic agent as a member of multi-disciplinary health and mental health teams. Performs some supervisory activities.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Master's degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education is required. Five years post-masters experience in a healthcare setting is required, with six to seven years preferred.
LICENSURE
Current licensure from the Texas Department of Human Services is required. ACP licensure is preferred.
