Performs all types of cable repair, testing and technical analysis including acceptance testing, fiber optic construction and maintenance, transmission/noise isolation, operation of all types of heavy equipment, complex air pressurization problems and sealed plant repair.
General duties include, but are not limited to, the following: personal contacts, driving, travel related, and physical requirements. Tools and equipment used include backhoe, cable plow, megger, ohmmeter, pusher, 3M modular splicing unit, locator, DAVAR test equipment, line truck, semi-truck, trailers, CSU and/or aerial devices, various hand/power, splicing and testing tools, shovel and rake, transmission, noise and isolation equipment, attenuation test sets, OTDR, fusion splicing and mechanical fiber splicing tools.
Basic qualifications include tests, strong leadership skills, knowledge in all types of splicing activity, cable and safety test equipment and/or use of all types of cable construction equipment, knowledge in first aid and CPR, requires class "A" CDL driver's license, knowledge in reading and understanding CAF (Customer Access Facility) work orders, basic AC/DC theory, good safety record, job requires reading and writing English, job requires driving vehicle with manual gear shift, working aloft and in close spaces, strong work ethics, integrity and positive outlook. Fiber optic construction and maintenance, transmission/noise isolation, sealed plant repair and/or operation of all types of heavy equipment.
