The Opportunity
The Department of English in the College of Arts and Humanities (CAH) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-earning assistant professor position in Creative Writing, with a specialization in fiction, anticipated to begin in August 2024.
The selected candidate will be expected to teach courses in the B.A. and MFA programs in creative writing; engage in research/creative activities and professional activities appropriate for tenure-track faculty; participate in advising and recruitment; direct theses and serve on thesis committees for the MFA program in Creative Writing; and provide service to the department, college, and university. The individual will teach face-to-face and online classes. Teaching responsibilities include a 2/3 course load.
Minimum Qualifications:
A terminal degree in Creative Writing, English, or other English-related field from an accredited institution by time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with a strong record of publication in fiction; a secondary interest or teaching experience in a second area such as poetry, creative nonfiction, and/or editing and publishing; one or more years of experience teaching creative writing at the college level.
