Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in your community? The City of Peoria's Social Services Unit (SSU) is looking for passionate individuals to join our mission of promoting safer encounters between citizens in need of crisis services and our dedicated police department personnel. Your role will be pivotal in connecting individuals with essential mental health, substance use, and other needs-based services, ultimately contributing to a healthier and safer community.

As a key member of our team, you will provide crisis intervention services, assessments, evaluations, and stabilization in a community-based environment. Collaborating closely with the Peoria Police Department, you will respond to the community multiple times a day, delivering mobile mental and behavioral health services to citizens in Peoria, Illinois. You will also supervise Licensed Social Workers and Licensed Clinical Social Workers, ensuring clinical oversight and ongoing support for our community members.

• Actively listen to presenting issues and utilize motivational interviewing skills and crisis interventions to ensure safety.
• Exercise sound judgment and decision-making that is clinically safe and logical.
• Resolve crises in a clinically appropriate and least restrictive manner.
• Respect and effectively engage with the values and cultural beliefs of clients and their families.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and emergency personnel during crisis situations.
• Provide follow-up case management as assigned.
• Maintain appropriate treatment boundaries with clients and their families.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation in patient medical records.
• Prepare and maintain all pertinent records, statistics, and progress notes.
• Deliver direct counseling and case management to individuals and families.

License/Certifications:

• Licensed Social Worker (LSW) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
• Proof of Auto Insurance
• Driver's License - Secretary of State (SOS)

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work (Required)

Experience:

• At least 3 years of related experience preferred.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to work with diverse age groups.
• Basic computer skills for documentation.
• Ability to drive in various weather conditions.
• Proficiency in de-escalation techniques.
• Effective communication skills with law enforcement, medical staff, and community providers.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and compliance requirements.

The compensation range for this position is $24.86 - $41.52 per hour . This range reflects our commitment to fair compensation based on experience, qualifications, and other factors. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package to support our team members.
