Summary

The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for maintaining network infrastructure components such as servers, network devices, and storage devices as directed by the designated Program Manager. This Engineer will respond to network alarms and outages, dispatch to remote sites for troubleshooting and repairs as well as document network infrastructure, update and close trouble tickets, and document the root cause of network issues. This Network Engineer will report to the Project Manager and team lead and will work closely with other members of the technology department to support all technology at our client’s sites.

Must be able to work onsite daily. (Hybrid optional)

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• CCNA is required, CCNP is preferred

• Seven years of Cisco experience managing medium to large data centers and multi-site environments
• Experience with Nexus switches in medium or large size data centers
• Experience with Cisco ASAs, site-to-site VPN (IPSEC), and Cisco DNA Center
• Experience configuring Cisco networking equipment (routers, switches, etc.)
• Experience interconnecting with networking technologies including HP blade enclosures, VMware/vSphere, F5 application delivery controllers
• Experience with Meraki wireless network including implementation, configuration, and troubleshooting
• Experience with Cisco DNA Center, SolarWinds and PRTG preferred
• Experience with VeloCloud SD-WAN technology
• Advanced knowledge of layer 2/3 concepts and designs
• Ability to easily communicate with all levels of personnel and management
• Ability to self-direct, prioritize work assignments, etc.
• Ability to create/update network documentation
• Assisting with configuration and installation of ASAs, switches, routers, wireless access points or controllers
• Assist in configuration and troubleshoot data center networking technologies including HP blade enclosures and vSphere
• Assist with the ongoing segregation using multiple VRF networks
• Configuration and maintenance of redundant networks across multiple data centers
• Configuration and maintenance of network equipment to maintain PCI compliancy
• Assist and backup senior engineers in configuring and monitoring F5 application delivery controllers and application layer firewall
• Monitoring health of network
• Configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting, and mitigating network issues utilizing networking tools
• Travel to remote Chicago land sites to install and troubleshoot network equipment as needed

• Troubleshoot enterprise-wide network problems in dynamic infrastructures
• Understanding of network-related security concepts (ACLs, firewall rules, NAT/PAT, etc.)
• Network management and monitoring skills with PRTG, Cisco DNA, Prime, ISE, or SolarWinds are a plus
• Hands-on experience with TCP/IP and IP subnetting
• Hands-on experience with configuring and troubleshooting network routing protocols in an enterprise environment
• Hands-on experience with configuring and troubleshooting spanning-tree protocols
• Hands-on experience with configuring VTP, VLANs, Trunking, Tunneling, vPCs, switch stacks, VSS, etc.
• Hands-on experience with performing IOS upgrades and password recovery
• Knowledge of Infoblox / DHCP and DNS architectures
• Document implementation, test, contingency, backout plans, etc.
• Regularly update ServiceNow incident tickets, service requests, and change management requests (CRQs)
• Good Microsoft Visio skills or other network diagramming and mapping tools
• Excellent Customer Service and communication skills (verbal and written - Visio)

Must be able to pass a TSA background check, and Driver’s License or State ID required

Must be able to work onsite daily; CCNA is required, CCNP is preferred

Pay Scale: $45-65/hr. (negotiable per experience & certifications)
