Senior Accountant/Controller
Dynamic family-owned third-generation automotive and heavy equipment machine dealership, servicing the area for over forty (40) years, heavily focused on reliability, knowledge, and high-quality customer care, has an opportunity for you to contribute to our growth and success.
Reporting to the President, the Controller will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounting and reporting. The Controller will prepare and monitor budgets for all company divisions and profit centers, complete local, state, and federal reporting requirements, act as a liaison with the external CPA firm, update the weekly cash flow projections, implement internal controls as needed to strengthen business processes in order to protect company assets and profitability, oversee inventory cycle counting and valuation, and ensure overall compliance with GAAP. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the above, and a clear understanding of dealership logistics and inventory management.
Essential Responsiblities:
Supervise all accounts receivable and accounts payable staff, delegating daily duties and assuring accuracy of reports.
Ensure all inter-company transactions have been recorded properly and are reconciled monthly.
Coordinate and maintain accounting month-end closing schedule and activities to include a reasonable
recording of depreciation, interest, and accruals. Ensure that all Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled and tied to the source documentation.
Prepare and analyze financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and project cost reports.
Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and cash flow to ensure financial objectives are met and risks identified and mitigated.
Collaborate with the general manager and store managers to provide financial insights, support decision-making, and optimize profitability.
Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies to facilitate audits, reviews, and compliance filings.
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in dealership accounting and financial management.
Supervise and ensure completion of all needed permits, registrations and licenses.
Coordinate the management of all Floor Plan financing and lines of credit related to the sale of vehicles and equipment
Calculate Incentive Plan pool / Bonus amounts and report amounts to be distributed to owner for approval.
Ensure Quarterly Profit-Sharing payments are made to staff and employees by the 1st pay day in the 2nd month after the quarter closes.
Lead company in accounting system and related software upgrades or conversions to include any existing system restructuring.
Essential Qualifications:
Minimum of 7 - 10 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership position (Accounting Manager / Controller)
At least 2 years of Dealership experience preferred but not required
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations.
Ability to create, interpret and present financial statements, budget variance reports, and return on investment reports.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting and analysis.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple locations simultaneously.

Knowledge of Dealership POS systems is helpful but not required
