Research Assistant I (Spanish/English required)

Location: MUST reside in Brownsville, TX (Cameron County) | Remote with Local Fieldwork
Pay Rate: Starting at $15/hour (based on experience
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | 35–40 hours per week

Dean’s Professional Services is now hiring a Research Assistant I to support a community-based early childhood education study. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about data collection, child development, and meaningful research in local communities.

Position Summary
The Research Assistant I will assist in data collection efforts with teachers and children in early learning programs throughout Cameron County. The role includes both administrative and field-based responsibilities, with in-person training provided prior to fieldwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule and confirm research appointments with study participants via phone and email
• Establish rapport with study participants to ensure accurate and complete data collection
• Conduct in-person data collection in local early childhood education settings
• Use research assessment tools and databases to gather and manage data
• Code and edit collected data for accuracy and completeness
• Maintain administrative documentation such as time logs and effort reports
• Participate in research training and ensure compliance with study protocols
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, public health, or a related field (experience may substitute for education)
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
• Must pass a background check

Preferred Skills and Experience

• CITI Human Subjects Research Training
• Experience with REDCap or similar data systems
• Prior work in community-based research settings
• Experience working with children, teachers, or in outreach programs
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Experience with live or video-based coding of behavioral data is a plus

• Remote work environment with local fieldwork in Cameron County
• In-person training is provided before fieldwork begins
