We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) and History Teacher to join our team, educating students in our 5/6 grade, and 7/8th grade class. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop critical reading, writing, and analytical skills in ELA while fostering an understanding of historical events, cultures, and civic responsibilities in History. This role involves creating engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and cultivating a positive, supportive classroom environment that promotes a love for learning.

Key Responsibilities:

- Follows the current curriculum to deliver dynamic lesson for ELA that focus on reading comprehension, critical thinking, creative writing, grammar, vocabulary, and literature analysis, including fiction, poetry, and informational texts.

- Develop and teach History lessons covering U.S. history, world history, geography, and civics, incorporating topics such as the American Revolution, world wars, and the U.S. Constitution, tailored to middle school standards.

- Create a safe and engaging classroom environment that fosters student participation and supports diverse learning needs.

- Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain a productive learning atmosphere and address behavioral challenges.

- Assess student progress through assignments, tests, projects, and discussions, providing constructive feedback to support academic and social-emotional growth.

- Monitor and document student learning, adjusting instruction to meet individual needs, including support for struggling learners.

- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to develop interdisciplinary projects and share best practices.

- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress through email, reports, and other means.

- Contribute to school-wide initiatives, such as extracurricular activities, committees, or school improvement plans.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, History, Social Studies (preferred)

- Valid state teaching certification or licensure for middle school ELA/S.S/History (preferred)

- Fingerprint clearance card. (can apply if not already obtained)

Experience:

- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a middle school setting (preferred).

- Strong knowledge of English language, literature, and historical content 

- Proficiency in classroom management and differentiated instruction to meet student needs

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

- Ability to foster critical thinking, creativity, and a love for learning in students

- Patience and a commitment to creating a calm and peaceful learning environment.

Work Environment:

- Teach 4 classes daily (50 minutes each) with prep time for planning and grading.

- Teach/supervise 1 elective class daily (45 minutes)

- Work collaboratively and harmoniously with grade-level teams and administrative staff to support the school culture and community.

- Small classroom sizes with approximately 10 students per class

Salary/Compensation:

- $25-$30/hr. 

- 25 hours per week. 

- Work days/hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 8:30am-2:30pm
