You are the ideal candidate if...You are an ambitious and technically skilled engineering student pursuing a BSME (or related) with a strong interest in mechanical design, manufacturing, and product development within 1-2 years of graduation. Youll work alongside our engineering and radiochemistry teams to support design, documentation, prototyping, and production activities.Youre not just looking for an internshipyoure looking for an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to real-world projects and collaborate with a great team while gaining exposure to startup operations, ISO 9001 practices, and regulated manufacturing environments, and potentially build a long-term career with DKS.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in mechanical design using SolidWorks, including 3D modeling, 2D drawing creation, and basic design reviews.Help develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), part documentation, and version-controlled CAD files.Support the prototyping and assembly of mechanical hardware, fixtures, and test setups.Collaborate with engineers to translate R&D designs into manufacturable parts and assemblies.Participate in design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and tolerance analysis tasks.Contribute to ISO 9001 documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and engineering change orders (ECOs).Support efforts to implement 5S and continuous improvement practices in our lab and prototyping areas.What Youll LearnEnd-to-end product development process in a hardware startup environment.Exposure to nuclear energy systems, compact power devices, and high-precision mechanical assemblies.Application of industry standards in CAD, documentation, and quality management.How to work with interdisciplinary teams across engineering, radiochemistry, automation, and operations.The startup mindset: adaptability, curiosity, accountability, and creative problem-solving.QualificationsRequiredCurrently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering (or similar) bachelors program.Proficient in SolidWorks or other CAD software.Comfortable with basic mechanical tools, lab equipment, and hands-on prototyping.Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team.Strong interest in hardware design, product development, or manufacturing engineering.PreferredFamiliarity with DFM/DFA, GD&T, ISO 9001, or regulated industries.Experience with 3D printing, manual machining, or electromechanical assembly.Basic knowledge of radiation safety, batteries, or energy systems (a plus, not required).Why Join DKSWork on real-world projects that directly support innovative power systems.Gain mentorship from senior engineers and exposure to startup leadership.Flexible schedule to accommodate school commitments.High-impact, resume-building experience in a fast-growing deep-tech company.
