Function The purpose of this job within the organization is to successfully direct and manage the daily operations of Bluebird Gap Farm. This job works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings. Supervises Full-time, Part-time, and volunteer staff.
Minimum Requirements - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Biology, Environmental Science, Animal Care or Husbandry, Wildlife Management or related field.
- Requires five (5) years of full-time equivalent experience in farm or animal care and maintenance with a minimum of two (2) years of previous administrative and supervisory experience.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.
- This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
Additional Requirements - Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
- May require working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek to include evenings and weekends.
- Requires some local travel.
- The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
