The Civil Rights Investigator will assist the Director, SUU Office of Equal Opportunity, by conducting confidential, thorough, and equitable investigations regarding potential violations of SUU anti-discrimination and Title IX policies. Essential Functions Create and maintain records of investigations including correspondence with parties and witnesses, interview transcripts, investigation reports, and case notes. Enter records and artifacts into the case management platform (e.g., Maxient) to protect the confidential information that is contained within these sources.Coordinate and conduct fact-gathering investigations for reports of alleged discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. This includes scheduling appointments with parties and witnesses, interviewing individuals, and collecting documents or artifacts that relevant to the allegations.Complete regular training on topics related to conducting civil rights investigations consistent with regulatory requirements. Maintain an online transcript of these trainings for public inspection. Complete cross training in interoffice responsibilities to maintain coverage.Represent the Office of Equal Opportunity at informational sessions or resource fairs.Assist in the preparation of reports and publications issued by the Office of Equal Opportunity. Preparation includes data entry, data analysis, and document writing and editing.Tasks assigned by the Director essential to the maintenance of the Office and supportive of other University Departments including Legal Affairs, SUU Police, Student Affairs, and Academic Affairs.Other duties as assigned. Education & ExperienceMinimum Qualifications4 Year / Bahchelors degree in a field related to law, business, complinace, policy, investigations, or procedure with at least two years of relevant experience. Exceptional writing skills and ability to efficiently and effectively create draft reports, including demonstrated ability to analyze facts, spot issues, apply facts to policy, and distill the foregoing to a concise but thorough report.Ability to communicate in a variety of formats on sensitive matters and collaborate with individuals from an increasingly diverse workforce, including administrators, faculty, staff, students, community partners, and law enforcement.Demonstrated ability to use judgment and manage confidential information.Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage workload in a fast-moving environment.Preferred QualificationsHigher education administration experience.Experience analyzing and applying anti-discrimination laws.Experience analyzing and applying Title IX.Experience analyzing and applying the Clery Act.Experience working in an equal opportunity office, compliance office and/or a police or other investigative department.Skill and training in administrative processes and policies.Experience conducting trainings in a variety of formats, with an emphasis on interactive and situational trainings.Master's degree in a field related to law, business, compliance, policy, or procedure with at least one year of relevant experience.
